- Yes, an early graduation plan means that students will complete a condensed version of the Second-Year Learning Community and will finish all assignments by the end of the fall semester of their second year. Students will be added to the Third- Year Learning Community in the spring semester of their second year.

- Yes, an extended graduation plan means the students will complete the Second- Year Learning Community in their second year with no changes to the timeline of when they complete their assignments. However, starting their third year, students will be given more time to complete the Third-Year Learning Community to best fit their thesis timeline.

- If each assignment is successfully completed by the end of the academic year, the Learning Community team will mark the Second-Year Learning Community complete on the degree audit.

Yes, students can turn in assignments late. It is encouraged to submit them as soon as possible for them to best support the student’s graduation timeline. However, they need to be submitted by the last day of classes in the semester the student is graduating at the latest for the Second-Year Learning Community to be marked complete on the degree audit.
Second-Year Learning Community Assignment Overview

- Students can complete the Pathway assignments by participating in one of four pathways listed below.
- Students will select one pathway for the Fall semester and one pathway for the Spring semester, with the option to choose the same pathway twice or choose a different pathway.
- After completing each pathway, students submit a reflection about their experience and how this may have impacted their undergraduate education
- The pathway options include:
- Leadership Pathway
- Students who choose this pathway will participate in a leadership opportunity during the semester you choose. There are many eligible options on campus, however, you have the freedom to find a leadership opportunity that speaks to you, even if it is off campus. You will be expected to provide a detailed description of the leadership opportunity.

- Volunteer Pathway
- Students who choose the Service and Community Involvement Pathway will need to participate in a semester-long volunteer opportunity OR five volunteer opportunities during the semester you choose. You will be expected to provide the name and date of each event that you attended, as well as a detailed description of what each event entailed. The opportunities may be for the same group or organization, or for different organizations each time.

- Career Pathway
- Students who choose the Career and Professional Excellence Pathway will fulfill this requirement through a semester-long career-related opportunity OR attendance at five career-related events during the semester they choose. This can include workshops, events, faculty talks, internship/career fairs, or other opportunities. You will be expected to provide the name and date of each event that you attended, as well as a detailed description of what each event entailed.

- Personalized Pathway
- The Personalized pathway presents the most open-ended and customizable option for students. Students will fulfill this pathway by completing some type of regular participation in an extracurricular activity (either a semester-long commitment OR attending five events). Students can mix and match leadership, volunteer, career related, or recreational activities in this pathway.

Students identify a timeline of thesis completion with appropriate due dates relative to their departmental guidelines and graduation plan. The Departmental Honors Liaison for the student’s department helps with completion of the checklist.

Students will complete the College Plan Revision assignment with the help of their major/minor advisors, who can help identify what classes to take to fulfill graduation requirements and when to take them.
