Honors Contracts
Honors Contracts let you enhance non-Honors courses so that they provide elective credits towards the Honors degree by working with your instructor to expand the class experience. With an Honors Contract, you can dig deeper into topics you care about, shape the class around what you're most interested in, and build new skills through more focused, independent work.

Honors Contract Step-by-Step for Students
-
Each department maintains a list of courses that are eligible for an Honors Contract. View a list of contract-eligible courses here. Confirm that the course you are enrolled in is contract-eligible and reach out to your instructor. Some instructors will choose to build the Honors Contract with you, while others may have predetermined assignments or projects. It is important to connect with your instructor early in the semester to ensure you can submit your proposal by the deadline.
-
Once you and your instructor have a strong understanding of the Honors Contract, complete the registration form linked above. The form will be sent to your instructor for review. If additional details are needed, you will be contacted and asked to revise your proposal.
Make sure to confirm that your professor has approved the contract BEFORE the end of the semester.
Students and faculty may view registered contracts here.
-
Complete the contract as outlined and ensure that the Honors Contract is approved by both your instructor and the Honors College before the end of the semester. Your Contract will be sent to the Registrar's Office and the Honors College for administrative processing.
-
Your instructor will grade the Contract work separately from your regular coursework; the Honors Contract does not affect your overall course grade. At the end of the semester, your instructor will have an additional field populate in their gradebook to indicate whether the Honors Contract was completed. Students will receive an email once the contract has been marked complete.
The contract will then be processed and applied to the student's degree audit. Students will receive a second email once the contract has been added to their degree audit and is counting toward Honors elective requirements.
Please allow 4–6 weeks for the Registrar's Office to apply completed contracts to degree audits. Questions regarding degree audit processing should be directed to [email protected]. Graduating students might also consider contacting [email protected].
