WIN A TRIP TO FRANCE!

The Wilkes Center's annual climate solutions hackathon is coming up, and we're recruiting students from all disciplines across campus.

The Basics:

What:  24-hour Energy and Climate Solutions Hackathon

When: Friday, February 27 to Saturday, February 28

Where:  L.S. Skaggs Applied Science Building, Wilkes Center

The climate solutions hackathon challenges undergraduate and graduate students from any discipline to team up and develop proposals in a slide deck within 24 hours. Apply your knowledge, skills, and teamwork talents to conceive solutions to tackle global or local ENERGY AND CLIMATE challenges.

  • 💯 All U students are welcome! (no matter what discipline)
  • 💰 Thousands of dollars in cash prizes awarded to the top ideas (including a trip to FRANCE! * See details below).
  • 🕸️ Network with other students
  • 🫶🏼 Project support from faculty and experts.
  • 🍲 FREE food and snacks!
  • ⚗️ Hosted in the L.S. Skaggs Applied Science Building

Schedule:

Friday, Feb 27

  • 10:00 am - 11:00 am: Registration and check-in
  • 11:00 am: kickoff
  • 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm: dinner served
  • 10:00 pm: building closes (teams can continue working remotely)

Saturday, Feb 28

  • 10:00 am: building opens again, (coffee and pastries)
  • 11:00 am: team submissions due
  • 11:00 am - 12:30 pm: team presentations
  • 12:30 pm: Judges receive submissions to evaluate

Sunday, Mar 1

Judges evaluate submissions and determine top winners

Monday, Mar 2

  • 6:00 pm: awards reception

 

Collaboration:

  • Various professionals from energy-related industries will be available to support students and guide their proposals.
  • This year, we are also excited to welcome graduate students from Université Côte d'Azur who will join the teams.
  • * The First-Place team will have the option to accept EITHER students the winning award amount ($3,000 split between team members) OR a trip to Nice, France, to visit Université Côte d'Azur in late May 2026.
