If you are seeking more information on your department’s thesis requirements, please contact your Departmental Honors Liaison and/or the Honors Thesis Team in the Honors College.

Faculty Thesis Mentors

Both career-line and tenure-line faculty are eligible to be a facutly thesis mentor. The student themselves is required to ask and receive an affirmative response from possible mentor. If the faclty mentor leaves the University before the thesis is complete, the DHL and chair of Gender Studies will assist the student in finding a replacement.

Collaborative Theses

Collaborative theses are permitted as long as they complete a contribution statement outlining their portion as well as individual accountability check-ins with the DHL.

Joint Thesis

Joint theses are permitted with the caveat that both mentors on the project sign off on the level of engagment, involvement and academic rigor.

How does the Honors Thesis relate to other aspects of the major, like a Capstone Project?

no mandatory coursework; but the opportunity to enroll in research credits with mentor as part of degree (signature experience), or enroll in internship credits while writing internshiop based thesis; other courese might be relevant depending on the topic, but students don't have to take any specific course other thatn the GNDs 4999.
