Thesis format
The B.S. in Games accepts thesis in the format of either a long-format thesis or an article-based thesis. Any other formats must first be approved by the DHL.
Who is eligible to be a faculty thesis mentor?
All career-line and tenure-line faculty are eligible to serve as a faculty thesis mentor.
Are collaborative theses permitted?
A collaborative thesis is one where an Honors student works with one or more collaborators on the thesis.
Collaborative theses are not permitted.
Are joint theses permitted?
A joint thesis is a single thesis that satisfies the requirements of multiple majors.
A joint thesis is not applicable to the B.S. in Games, as our degree does not have a thesis requirement. Please reach out to the DHL if you have any questions about this.
How does the Honors Thesis relate to other aspects for the major?
Students should consider using class projects or personal game development experiences as inspiration for a thesis. Many students will relate their thesis to their Capstone project, but it is important to note that the thesis must consist of additional work on top of any class project.
Additional information for students
It is important to identify a faculty thesis mentor as early as possible. Please contact the DHL for assistance in identifying a mentor that best fits your thesis topic. Before you approach a mentor, it is strongly suggested that you have a draft thesis topic and statement to discuss with any potential mentors.
