Who is eligible to be a faculty thesis mentor?


-Career and Tenure line faculty are eligible as faculty thesis mentors.

-If a faculty mentor leaves the University before completion, they are still permitted to supervise the completion. If they will not, a suitable faculty mentor will be appointed in their stead.

Are collaborative theses permitted?

A collaborative thesis is one where an Honors student works with one or more collaborators on the thesis.


-Collaborative theses are permitted as a single co-authored thesis.
-Co-authors should each provide a statement delineating their contributions and signed by the faculty mentor.

Are joint theses permitted?

A joint thesis is a single thesis that satisfies the requirements of multiple majors.


-Joint theses are permitted upon agreement by the DHLs from all participating departments.

How does the Honors Thesis relate to other aspects for the major?


-Students may develop an Honors Thesis alongside or in place of an Ethnic Studies capstone project. Students must complete ETHNC 5900 Methodology and ETHNC 5910 Adv Exploration in ES for the capstone project. Students may also enroll in ETHNC 4999-90 Honors Thesis/Project while working with their faculty advisor.

-Specific requirements for the honors thesis must be developed and agreed upon with the faculty mentor.
