Departmental Thesis Requirements

The Honors College requires that the thesis involve some written
component. The thesis is a standard written document produced using the graduate school thesis formats.

How does the Honors Thesis relate to other aspects of the major, like a Capstone Project?

The Honors research thesis is generally in some discipline for which courses are taught in the Kahlert School of Computing; students in this track take CS4940 in the next-to-last semester before graduation and CS4999 in the final semester. The Honors capstone project thesis is done in conjunction with a two-semester capstone course sequence, CS4000 and CS4500. In addition, capstone Honors students take CS4998 in their last semester.

Additional Information for Students

There is a Canvas site dedicated to providing information essential for Honors thesis students. This includes timelines, required milestones, example theses, as well as FAQ's and URLs for required approval forms and templates.
