If a faculty mentor leaves the university, the Departmental Honors Liaison guarantees the successful conclusion of the thesis work.
Are collaborative theses permitted?
A collaborative thesis is one where an Honors student works with one or more collaborators on the thesis.
A collaborative thesis is not permitted.
Are joint theses permitted?
A joint thesis is a single thesis that satisfies the requirements of multiple majors.
The determination of allowing a student to produce a joint thesis would be made on a case by case basis.
How does the Honors Thesis relate to other aspects for the major?
The Honors research thesis is generally in some discipline for which courses are taught in the Kahlert School of Computing; students in this track take CS4940 in the next-to-last semester before graduation and CS4999 in the final semester. The Honors capstone project thesis is done in conjunction with a two-semester capstone course sequence, CS4000 and CS4500. In addition, capstone Honors students take CS4998 in their last semester.
