Middle Class on the Ropes: Perspectives from Salt Lake City
In this completed Praxis Lab, students explored the complex and multifaceted nature of income inequality in the United States, integrating demographic, economic, historical, and cultural perspectives. The course examined how growing income inequality affects individuals, families, and their participation in politics and social processes. Students also investigated the impact of inequality on their own economic prospects, including the challenges posed by rising debt burdens.
Through an interdisciplinary approach, students analyzed the most current data, discussed policy implications, and evaluated the viability of potential solutions to this pressing issue. The course fostered critical thinking about the consequences of inequality and sought to identify strategies to address this urgent social challenge.
