What kinds of research, creative work, and projects are Honors students exploring this year?

Find out at the Honors Student Showcase—an evening dedicated to celebrating the ideas, curiosity, and collaboration that define the University of Utah Honors College community.

Now in its third year, the showcase brings together Honors students from across disciplines to share projects they have been developing throughout the academic year. From in-depth thesis research to creative work, global experiences, and community-engaged projects, the event highlights the many ways students explore big questions and apply their learning in meaningful ways.

Visitors are invited to explore the event at their own pace—moving between presentations, conversations, and sessions that spark their curiosity.

What You’ll Experience

Throughout the evening, attendees can stop by a variety of sessions and presentations, including:

  • Honors thesis presentations showcasing original student research

  • Praxis Lab Summit sessions highlighting collaborative, real-world projects

  • Study abroad panels featuring students sharing global learning experiences

  • Community presentations exploring projects with local impact

  • Thesis advice panels offering insight for students considering their own thesis journey

  • A student Publications table, where visitors can learn about the many ways Honors students have published their work—from novels to literary magazines

  • An ONCS table (Office of Nationally Competitive Scholarships), where students can ask questions and learn about nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships

Because multiple sessions run throughout the event, there’s always something new to discover. Guests are welcome to browse poster presentations, listen to student speakers, visit informational tables, or simply talk with presenters about their work and ideas.

Why Attend?

The showcase is one of the best ways to experience the breadth of the Honors community in a single evening. Whether you are new to Honors or nearing the end of your program, the event offers a chance to connect, explore, and celebrate the work students are doing.

Students and guests attend the showcase to:

  • Explore future possibilities in Honors, from thesis research to Praxis Labs and study abroad

  • Support classmates and friends presenting their work

  • Discover ideas and research across disciplines

  • Celebrate the creativity, curiosity, and scholarship of the Honors community

In addition to the presentations, light refreshments will be served, and students who attend multiple sessions can earn Honors swag.

A Tradition Inspired by Students

The showcase itself has an inspiring origin story. Years ago, Honors students expressed interest in creating an additional space where they could share their thesis work with peers and the broader community. What began as a student-driven idea has grown into the annual Honors Student Showcase—a gathering that highlights the diverse intellectual life of the Honors College and the many ways students bring their ideas to life.
