What are the admissions requirements to the Honors Program?
Entering freshmen are accepted based upon their Admissions Index which must be 120 or above and a 3.5 cumulative GPA; transfer and continuing students are accepted based upon their cumulative GPA which must be 3.5.

Is there a deadline to apply?
No, there is no deadline. The Honors College has open enrollment.

What classes are required for a University Honors Degree?
Click here for more information. Basically, you must complete the Honors Certificate, take two more courses and complete the Honors thesis to obtain the University Honors Degree.

Do Honors classes count for anything besides Honors?
Yes. Most Honors classes fulfill some type of general education requirement. So you can fulfill all GE requirements through the Honors Program such as American Institutions, diversity, lower- and upper-division writing, general and organic chemistry, the math QA and QB requirements, fine arts, humanities, social sciences and physical sciences.

No. You can take any course you'd like.

No. Honors courses are not accelerated.

Are the classes small?
Yes. Honors classes have no more than 30 students per class. Usually, the classes have fewer than 20 students.

Who teaches Honors courses?
The Honors College selects professors from all over campus and off campus to teach courses. Each has a Ph.D.—no teaching assistants or graduate students are used to teach courses. Professors are evaluated by the students every semester.

Does AP credit count?
Many Honors students enter the College with AP credit, concurrent enrollment credit, or an IB experience. These credit hours will help you satisfy General Education requirements and proceed toward graduation.
For the other courses you need to fulfill your General Education or University graduation requirements, you can choose from the list of Honors courses.
More importantly, you can satisfy some of your Honors course requirements through the Honors Tutorial, the Honors Think Tank or the many Honors Internship or Apprenticeship opportunities.
